5 Things I Want Tell The Vine(r’s)!

What a great day yesterday at The Vine. There were several new things happening as well as transition in ministry with an opportunity to say thank you. Lets start with the “thank you”

1. Thank you to Brooke for all the work she has done the past year and a half leading our Sprout Kids! It’s a lot of work planning, organizing and teaching children’s church as well as overseeing spring, summer, fall and winter events. Thank you so much for your dedication. And thanks to everyone who showed up for our appreciation breakfast for Brooke. You guys did a great job and the food was delicious!

2. Secondly, with Brooke moving over to other areas of ministry, we needed someone to fill the void. Thankfully Shaila has agreed to step in and step up to the challenge. She is more than capable and we are sure the Sprout Kids! are going to be blessed by her faithfulness and spirit. They started two new series yesterday, The Ark for PreK through 1st and The Movie Crew for 2nd through 5th. I’m sure it gonna be great!

3. Growth Groups went great! I heard great things about our new Growth Groups yesterday. Youth, men and women’s Growth Groups were wonderfully attended and I believe there will be much fruit. Thanks to the group facilitators and leaders. These Growth Groups are more than just a “Sunday School” class. They are discussion based small groups, designed to develop community and engagement outside of the room setting. You guys will be hearing more about those types of opportunities soon.

4. Our new Sermon Series, Tales from the Darkside, kicked off yesterday. This short sermon series “minors” in evil while “majoring” on Jesus. Yesterday we looked at how Jesus healed a demonized man from a non-Jewish village and how Jesus can break your chains no matter what you are facing. As C.S. Lewis said, “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them.” We must recognize their existence while trusting in Jesus authority.

5. Our first Night of Worship was amazing. It’s so incredible to just to worship God in Spirit and in truth without hurry. We encountered God. We waited. We worshipped. We prayed. We cried. We clapped. We sang. We listened. We hungered. We entered. We were moved. We were changed. We were encouraged. We were strengthened. We were in His presence. We were set free. The Holy Spirit was welcome. Jesus was exalted. There were testimonies of a “breakthrough” and I believe that to be true. God is doing wonderful things and it just the beginning of He has in store for The Vine.

I’m so excited as we move into fall about all that God is doing. Can’t wait for Wednesday Groups and prayer. Also this Sunday night is our first “Together” night. What’re you cooking?

Making Much of Jesus,

Pastor Brock
