Modest is Hottest: Rebelution’s Modesty Survey (part 3) (updated)

(UPDATE: The survey isn’t intended to mandate what is and is not modest. It’s designed to get you thinking about what is and is not modest.)
The Rebelution is a web site/blog from two guys, Alex and Brett Harris. They talk about about issues facing youth and how to respond biblically. One of the topics they dive into is modesty. And when I say dive into, I mean head first. The brothers conducted a survey, The Modesty Survey, well here is how they describe it, The Modesty Survey was not intended to serve as a scientific measurement of what the average man thinks about modesty. In the strictest sense, it isn’t a survey, but a discussion between Christian guys and girls who care about modesty. Over 200 Christian girls submitted their questions. In less than twenty days, over 1,600 Christian guys (12 and up) responded. Close to 200,000 separate pieces of data were collected, including 25,000 text responses.

The survey was presented in a traditional five-point Agree/Disagree format. Each participant was presented with 148 positive/negative statements and was given the options to Agree, Strongly Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, or remain Neutral. Each statement was accompanied by an optional text box for additional explanation.”

There are even charts and explanations for each statement.

And guys, in addition to the survey, there is also a petition you can sign encouraging Christian girls to dress modestly.
“The Modesty Survey results have been released, but there is still an important message for Christian guys to communicate to their sisters in Christ. Whether you participated in the survey or not, the Modesty Survey Petition below is your opportunity to affirm and commend the following biblical truths surrounding feminine modesty by adding your name to the hundreds of signatures below.

As a Christian guy with a deep appreciation for feminine modesty, I hereby affirm and commend the following biblical truths to my sisters in Christ:
*Please, approach the survey as a resource, not a list of rules.
*Always honor your parents above the results of the survey. (Ephesians 6:1-3)
*Seek personal feedback on your attire from the godly men and women in your life.
*Remember, modesty is first and foremost a matter of the heart, not the wardrobe.
*Faithfully pursue the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. (1 Peter 3:4)
*Let your good works outshine your outward appearance. (1 Timothy 2:10)
*Dress for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)”

I signed it, you can too. Click here to view the survey. You can view the Survey Overview, Results, and the Petition.
Keep checking the blog, as I’ll have more posts from C. J. Mahaney, some ideas and thought on modesty, and some links to modest fashion that is still fashionable.
